VeloSafe
The Board of Directors will work with non-compensated volunteers to prepare and distributed educational materials to non-cyclist and drivers with the goal to educate and advocate the use of bicycles as a primary or alternate mode of transportation and to promote safer driving habits and awareness of road safety surrounding cyclist.
This activity will take place in the Washington DC – Baltimore metropolitan area, with an initial focus in the Haymarket, The Plains, Marshall and Middleburg, VA areas with local cycling events, bike, and coffee shops sessions, as well as with online presence using the Cycling Unbound website and social media to reach wider audiences.
Cycling Unbound will build on-line testing programs, quizzes, content, and an information campaign to promote cycling safety, as well as coordinate with the Virginia Department of Motor vehicles and potentially, insurance clients to look for sponsorship opportunities. The informative online content will promote safer driving and acceptance and awareness of cyclist. The “See You On the Road Campaign” will work to educate both drivers, and non-cyclists public in general on best practices and promote positive attitudes towards cyclists through On-line safety courses, Public Service Announcements, creation and distribution of materials about driver/ cyclist responsibilities. The campaign will include educational programming for children and students to promote and encourage the use of protective equipment to prevent pediatric and adult injuries. Cycling Unbound will have emphasis head protection and helmet fit; cycling clothes for visibility and proper bike fit and maintenance.

VeloHealth
The Board of Directors will work with non-compensated volunteers to prepare and distributed educational materials to educate and advocate for regular physical exercise as one of the best ways to reduce health problems. Although the health benefits of regular exercise are well documented, getting inactive people to start exercising remains a great challenge. Cycling is fun and accessible for individuals of all fitness levels.
This activity will take place in the Washington DC – Baltimore metropolitan area, with an initial focus in the Haymarket, The Plains, Marshall and Middleburg, VA areas with local cycling events, bike, and coffee shops sessions, as well as with online presence using the Cycling Unbound website and social media to reach wider audiences. Cycling Unbound will build on-line testing programs, quizzes, content, and an information campaign to educate that cycling can help protect against serious diseases such as stroke, heart attack, some cancers, depression, diabetes, obesity, and arthritis. It is good for your heart and muscles. It also improves balance and over all mobility. It is a healthy, fun, and low impact form of exercise suitable for all ages. It is also easy to incorporate into a daily routine.
The activity will be funded through funding made available to Cycling Unbound and anticipates that 30% of its collective time and funding will be spent developing materials, organizing online webinars and workshops, as well as in-person events, exhibit booths to distribute the materials and will be ongoing in nature.
VeloGreenAccess
The Board of Directors will work with non-compensated volunteers to prepare and distributed educational materials to educate and advocate for wide availability of bikes and e-bikes shares and promote cycling for daily use and as an affordable alternative form of transportation, not just for leisure and recreation. Cycling Unbound will use cycling as a mechanism to get more cars off the road, to improve lives and the environment.
This activity will take place in the Washington DC – Baltimore metropolitan area, with an initial focus in the Haymarket, The Plains, Marshall and Middleburg, VA areas with local cycling events, bike, and coffee shops sessions, as well as with online presence using the Cycling Unbound website and social media to reach wider audiences.
Cycling Unbound will use cycling as a mechanism to connect with underserved youth by carrying out programing through neighborhood partnerships. Many in our society are disadvantaged by fewer mobility options due to socioeconomic status. Cycling provides access and allows travel to multiple stops to allow individuals to fulfill both work and household responsibilities. Cycling Unbound will work with retailers, bike shops, and housing developers to educate and promote access to bikes and e-bikes, work with bike shares to increase access and lower cost per use to make bikes and e-bikes widely available to all those who could benefit from using bikes, as well as to provide access to those who need it.

The activity will be funded through funding made available to Cycling Unbound and anticipates that 20% of its collective time and funding will be spent developing materials, organizing online webinars and workshops, as well as in-person events, exhibit booths to distribute the materials and will be ongoing in nature.

VeloGravel
The Board of Directors will work with non-compensated volunteers to prepare and distributed educational materials to educate and advocate for preservation of historic gravel roads, as way to promote and educate about the value and history of local gravel roads and preserve their historic heritage.
This activity will take place in the Washington DC – Baltimore metropolitan area, with an initial focus in the Haymarket, The Plains, Marshall and Middleburg, VA areas with local cycling events, bike, and coffee shops sessions, as well as with online presence using the Cycling Unbound website and social media to reach wider audiences. Cycling Unbound will develop informative online content to promote the value of these historic roads on creating educational journeys through the gravel roads of America to educate about local history and promote time spent on gravel bikes, communion with nature and improving health of participants.
Cycling Unbound will promote educational journeys on bikes through the gravel roads and promotional educational events, coordinating with local retailers, bike shops,
coffee shops and restaurants, for after events activities on locally owned commerce.
